The goal of this project was to convert a 42 sqm unused office space into a bright studio apartment that could accommodate one or two persons. Situated on the last floor of a 1970s building in Gyzi and surrounded by a large balcony, the space had great potential to be converted and start a new life as a residential space. All of the existing partition walls were demolished, exposing the concrete beam that splits the studio into two separate areas.
Following this division, we installed a new curtain wall that functions as a continuous and flexible element, dividing the living area from the bedroom, offering privacy when necessary, and creating a more fluid and versatile space. A new curved wall was added to the existing toilet to house the shower and to bring natural light into the bathroom. The vibrant color palette becomes an important tool to define the space's functions, enhance the natural light, and generate a contemporary and playful atmosphere. The linear multifunctional kitchen, which also doubles as storage space, is the only fixed element, and it stands out with its bold red color. Meanwhile, the bright blue floor, with its uniformity, visually expands the space and increases its luminosity.
The unconventional approach to this domestic space aims to create a more dynamic, fluid, and flexible living environment that adapts to the user's ever-changing needs.
