Bunny is a tiny device for hosting friends and for short term rentals, a 25 sqm pocket-sized hideaway in the center of Athens. A new white volume was inserted into the space to create a hierarchy and to establish separate areas; it also defines the hallway that brings to the living area with the balcony. The volume hosts the bathroom, marked by the floor-to-ceiling custom door, a separate sleeping area and storage, and lastly serves as the back wall for the kitchen. The bedroom raised alcove hints at the Japanese tokonoma; the platform underneath serves as storage, and the sleeping nook is characterised by bright surfaces and truthful materiality. The yellow kitchenette gives a vibrant tone to the living area, creating a playful experience together with the porthole circular window. The exposed concrete ceiling and the panelled custom floor reinforce the compact shape of the space while achieving spatial continuity and accentuating its sense of perspective. Choosing the color palette for this micro-environment was like finding the right balance when selecting the ideal combination of ice cream flavors; bold colors blend in with natural surfaces and textures.
